Blue Room Magazine
During my senior year at Eastern Illinois University, I served as coeditor for Blue Room, a student-led art magazine dedicated to showcasing the talents of student artists and their work. The publication is entirely student-produced. As coeditor, I took on a range of responsibilities, including conceptualizing the overall vision for the magazine, creating original content, designing spreads, and organizing team meetings. Additionally, I worked closely with fellow students to guide them in designing their contributions, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring a cohesive final product. I also undertook editing tasks to refine the layout and maintain the magazine's professional quality. The production timeline faced a significant challenge in March due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Despite these disruptions, we were determined to bring the magazine to print. We quickly adapted by restructuring our meetings on Zoom and creatively reworking content to address gaps caused by pandemic restrictions.
To commemorate the 101st anniversary of the Bauhaus, we chose to pay homage to its legacy by incorporating Bauhaus-inspired elements into the magazine’s design. This influence can be seen in the clean lines, geometric forms, and intentional use of space throughout the publication. Below are spreads I personally designed, reflecting the magazine’s unique blend of modernist inspiration and student creativity.
